Principles of Advanced Program Design

Many coach’s have a good understanding of the fundamental principles behind muscle growth, strength gain and fat loss. They know the physiology behind creating the desired adaptations in their clients.

Despite this many are still missing the mark in creating consistent, optimal, RESULTS PRODUCING programs that are truely periodised.

And even if they can great reasonably good programs its a stressful, time consuming process that always takes longer than it should.

If they had a concrete, repeatable system they could implement for writing training programs, while still being completely individualised to the client they would never have to worry about rushing to get programs done for clients again

This is exactly what we will teach you in the Principles of Advanced Program Design Seminar

In short, we are going to teach you an advanced framework that each individual coach can build upon to suit there own coaching style and clients

Principles of Advanced Program Design

Often, Coach’s develop training programs without understanding the fundamental principles behind muscle growth, strength gain and fat loss. Designing optimal training schemes require precise use of all training parameters; Exercise selection, Sets, Reps, Tempo, Rest intervals as well as other key variables

The Principles of Advanced Program Design course has been created to explain the basis of successful training programs, enabling students to easily adapt all variable's to every client's condition and goal.

Most PT's and coaches still don't have a reliable system to make effective, individualised programs quickly. In short, we are going to teach you an advanced framework that each individual coach can build upon to suit there own coaching style and clients

LEARNING SCHEDULE
Saturday August 1
8am - 12 Noon
Principles of successful schemes for Strength Gains, Hypertrophy and Fat Loss.
Strength training variables are the key component to created an adaptation that is predictable, and of the type needed, whether that's Maximal Strength gains, increases in Hypertrophy or creating a Fat Loss effect.

However, there a million decisions regarding Sets, Reps, Rest Periods, Tempo, Loading, Training Splits and Frequency to consider. For example....

What sets and reps are appropriate for beginner, intermediate and advanced clients?
How do you manipulate the number of sets to create a strength effect without weight gain?
How and when would you implement Wave Loading vs Stage Descending schemes?
When should you use intra set rest periods, or cluster sets?
What rest intervals do you need to create fat loss, short to maximise hormonal responses, or long to maximise performance?

In this lecture, Dale sets the record straight with easy to understand theories and principles, allowing you to quickly make decisions on the perfect loading parameters for every one of your clients.

1pm - 3.30pm
Exercise Selection and Execution
Proper exercise selection is the most under appreciated variable when it comes to designing truly great training programs. Improper exercise selection and technique will result in vastly diminished results, an increase in injury, and a poor reputation for you as a Coach. A multitude of  factors related to exercise selection need to be considered, for example

What's the optimal number and volume of exercises?

Is it too much work for the spinal extensors to do deadlifts, 45 degree back extensions and good mornings all in the same week?

When to select the back squat, front squat or safety bar squat in a program?

Where does your client sit on structural balance ratios to be able to determine which lifts should be the focused on? And then, how do you rotate these lifts to ensure continual success and reduced injury?

How many time per week should be train a lagging lift compared to other lifts?

What are the optimal main and accessory exercises, as well as technique's, for Athletes, Bodybuilders, Powerlifters, Olympic Lifters etc etc.

In this lecture, Dale will outline all the key components surrounding proper exercise selection and execution for all purposes.

3.45pm - 5pm
Training Session 1: Relative Strength/Hypertrophy Workout
Knowing the theory behind proper program design is one thing, but knowing how to apply it in person, adjusting variables like load, the number of sets, and total volume for each session is another.

Students will be put through a gruelling Relative Strength & Functional Hypertrophy Training session, experiencing the theory learnt during day one in a practical setting. Students will experience, in real time, how to alter the number of sets by looking at fatigue rates, how to adjust the load properly across each set and exercise, and learn countless tips and tricks to effective in person coaching.
5pm - 6.30pm
Wrap up and Q & A
For 90 minutes, Dale will cover all points that where presented during Day 1, and answer any questions the students may have.
Sunday August 2nd
8am - 10am
Application of Key loading Parameters; Sets, Reps, Tempo, Rest Interval, Order
Day 1 of the Principles of Advanced Program Design course will focus on the underlying theory to successful schemes. Day 2 will focus on how to apply everything into individual programs, no matter what the client or goal.

For example, how to vary the amount of work done in Main and Accessory movements in maximal strength vs hypertrophy programs, or how to change the tempo of lifting across a broad range of clients.
10am -  12 noon
Periodisation Concepts and Application
Designing an optimum training program is no mean feat. But it takes a truly great coach to create program after program, that seamlessly varies the key parameters in a way that avoids excessive fatigue, stagnation, and injury, as well as ensures continual progress towards the end goal.

The optimum use of periodisation is exactly this, and in this lecture Dale will provide great insight into the most valuable periodisation models to use, answering the following problems with program design periodisation, like;

How long training cycles should be to enhance results.
What and how much to adjust when progressing from phase to phase.
How and where to place training priorities in an overall scheme.
How to fluctuate overall volumes, Intensities.
How to set up general and specific preparation phases for athletic purposes.

This information will be applied across Strength Gains, Hypertrophy and Fat Loss goals.
1pm - 2.30pm
Training Session 2: Hypertrophy & Fat loss workout
Students will be put through a gruelling high repetition training session, designed specifically for either hypertrophy gains or fat loss experiencing the theory learnt during day two in practical application.

Students will experience how to precisely adjust loads due to fatigue, how to change protocols for fast and slow twitch individuals, as well as learn how hard, or not, to push clients in high repetition, high volume workouts.

2.30pm - 4pm
Tying together all aspects of Program Design
In isolation, without the information tying it together, each program design variable has limited use. In this lecture, Dale will, step by step, show how to tie together all the learned information on Training Frequency, Training Splits, Exercise Selection, and the application of the OPTIMUM Set/Rep/Tempo/Rest Period combinations.
4pm - 6.30pm
Program Design Case study and Q&A
Here, students will be given the task of creating multiple programs for differing situations. These will be individually critiqued, ensuring that all students are applying the principles and concepts from the Principles of Advanced Program Design course correctly.
